Karatay Municipality continues to contribute to a much greener, cleaner, and more livable Karatay with the projects it carries out and supports with the importance it attaches to the environment. In this context, “Zero Waste” training was given to Karatay Municipality staff in order to spread the “Zero Waste” awareness to a wider base and to prevent waste that can be recycled from going to waste. Hasan Kılca the Mayor of Karatay, who stated that they attach great importance to the issue of "Zero Waste" as a municipality, said, "The greatest legacy we will leave to our future generations is a clean Karatay. We continue to work to contribute to that.”
Karatay Municipality carries out many activities within the scope of the Zero Waste Project, initiated to leave a clean, developed, and liveable district for future generations.
Karatay Municipality, on the one hand, produces projects to ensure the recycling of almost all of the wastes generated in the district and to bring them into the economy, on the other hand, it carries out training activities to spread out the said project widely. In this context, all of the staff working in the Karatay Municipality Service Building received "Zero Waste Project Training".
The training held in Karatay Municipal Assembly Hall was given by Mustafa Çağrı Kaya, the Environmental Engineer of Environmental Protection and Control Department, and Ceren Çinikaya, the Head of Karatay City Council Zero Waste Working Group.
Detailed information was provided on waste, waste generation and waste types, prevention of waste generation, separate collection of waste at the source, and recycling them to the economy within the scope of the three-day training.

Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, reminded that they have been conducting many projects on "Zero Waste" as a municipality and emphasized that they are one of the municipalities that makes the most effort in this field.
“We conduct projects in many points of our district to contribute to recycling throughout our district and continue to get very favourable outcomes in this regard. In the last three years and only in the first seven months of this year, our teams have collected a total of 20,424 tons of waste on-site in a sorted way and recycled them or brought them to the economy. We aim to create this awareness and consciousness not only for our citizens or tradesmen but also for all our staff working in our municipality. We have provided the necessary training in this regard, and we will continue to do so. Our only goal is to contribute to making our Karatay a much cleaner, greener, and liveable district.”
